Overview

Start at Sun Messe Nichinan, a scenic hillside park overlooking the Pacific Ocean. Admire its famous seven Moai statues standing dramatically against the blue sea, and take in panoramic views stretching along the beautiful Nichinan Coast.
Continue along the coast to Michi-no-Eki Phoenix, a scenic roadside stop offering sweeping views of the Pacific Ocean. From here, admire the unusual wave-shaped rock formations known as the Devil’s Washboard, carved naturally by the power of the sea.
Next, visit Aoshima, a small island surrounded by distinctive rock formations and lush subtropical vegetation. Cross Yayoi Bridge to reach Aoshima Shrine, nestled in the heart of the island, and explore the spectacular Devil’s Washboard formations created by natural erosion over millions of years.
