Tongass Hike and Brew

Overview

Your guide welcomes you, ready to introduce you to the Tongass National Forest! Your adventure begins even before you hit the trail. Your local guide will share stories of the people and history of Ketchikan on the van drive from your ship to the trail. Once you've arrived your guide will lead you on a lush, 2-mile rainforest trail. As you begin your hike, listen closely as your guide gives you an overview of all the flora and fauna surrounding you.

Take a deep breath and let the pure mountain air envelope you as you admire the giant cedar, hemlock and spruce trees towering overhead. Salmonberry, blueberry, and huckleberry bushes abound for a delicious understory. Three platforms along the trail provide excellent viewing opportunity.

Make sure you keep an eye out for bears year-round as they are often spotted near.

After your hike, you can relax at one of our notable bars and indulge in a well-earned complimentary brew, either draft beer or coffee. This is the perfect place to chat with locals and nature-loving travelers alike. You will make your own way back to your cruise pier, either a short van ride or its around a 5 minute walk.
