Overview
Ketchikan is an unusual place, made up of small islands and the deep, dense Tongass National Forest.
There are many different ways to venture into this wilderness and an off-road adventure will be unusual and special.
These mountain trails will take you through a timber area that has been harvested, thus leaving space for you.
But we need to back track and understand your method of travel.
You will meet your guide, ready for this thrilling adventure.
Your transportation to the rainforest wilderness will be fascinating in itself.
You will have a chance to catch up on the history, culture and the economy of Ketchikan with an excellent representation of Ketchikan traveling with you.
Ample time to ask your questions, you will be well educated in the area as well as briefed on safety and gear before you arrive.
Once you reach base camp, you might feel some butterflies as you mount your kart, strap in and test the gears.
Your trek through the forest will take about 1.5 hours and you are guided all the day.
Safari-style, your group will set off to explore this remote backcountry along miles of forest trail.
Your lead guide in an ATV will guide you while you drive your new 2024 Polaris RZR, something that will test your ability to get through the wilderness.
The pace varies and is dependent on your group so everyone is comfortable as you take some steep curves and find unbelievable views of the Tongass Forest, Behm Canal and Alaska's famous Inside Passage.
Along the way you will stop, allowing you to absorb the views and the beauty of this land.
During your stop, the driver and passenger can switch places for the return trip, giving each equal time at the wheel.
Though you are guided, you need to watch for wildlife along the way.
Your guide passes through here daily and would point out an eagles nest or a past sighting, but you can also keep your eyes peeled for deer, eagles and bears!
