Secluded Old Growth Rainforest Hike

Overview

A short walk from your cruise pier, your guide welcomes you. Your small group leaves the city of Ketchikan behind, and you can relax into the forty-minute scenic drive to the end of the road. Then, start your hike on an improved gravel trail alongside a river with glimpses of waterfalls. Walking through a magical old-growth rainforest displaying impressive specimens of Sitka spruce and western red cedar fencing in the trail.

There are some stairs at the beginning of the hike before the trail flattens out and winds along the river valley below a ridge. Finally, 1.6 miles down the trail, your destination is a stone bench beside a serene bow in the river, where you can pause and enjoy one another and the peace and quiet.

Your return trip will conclude at the second destination, a beautiful waterfall where the river meets the ocean with views of surrounding mountains. Again, the area's serenity will not disappoint, and you will not want to miss capturing photos and making memories.
