Overview
This fun and adventurous small group tour begins after taking the free shuttle from the cruise ship pier to downtown Sitka. Take in the breathtaking view of downtown Sitka from the O'Connell Bridge as you explore Japonski (the Russian word for Japanese) Islands rich history and wildlife. Although wildlife sightings are not guaranteed, you'll most likely see eagles, sea lions, otters, and various other animals.
Your tour continues with a scenic drive to Silver Bay, where you'll learn of its rich history and be amazed by the scenery and photo opportunities.
Next, were on to the "Fortress of the Bear." This three-quarter acre habitat is home to rescued Brown Bear. The dedicated rescuers will provide information on this giant omnivore as well as stories of their personal experiences with "ursus arctos". The property allows for close access (25 feet) to the animals with covered viewing areas, for great photography opportunities.
The last stop is the Sitka National Historical Park, also known as Totem Park. You'll stand on a bridge over Indian River and learn about the salmon and their life cycle, then take a walk in the amazing old growth rain forest. Hear about the native culture as you view the totem art and scenery.

It has been announced by Sitka Sound Cruise Terminal that all guests arriving at this terminal on large cruise ship days (6000+ passengers) will be required to schedule a shuttle to get them from the terminal to the meeting point for this tour. The shuttle is free to purchase from Sitka Sound Cruise Terminal's in house shuttle booking system (via the link below). All days that require a ticket will be highlighted in red in the booking system. All guests should book a shuttle at least an hour before their scheduled tour departure time, to assure they can check in and be ready for their tour. Guests arriving at the Sitka Sound Cruise Terminal is 7 miles from town, need to allow additional time for the bus transfer (45 minutes).

This tour is not wheelchair accessible.

Guests arriving by tender boat, need to allow additional time to take the tender ashore. There are 2 different tender locations, specific instructions are on your tour voucher.
