Overview
Immerse yourself in Skagway’s premier rail-and-minicoach adventure! Travel 67.5 historic miles (approximately 4.5 hours) by train between Skagway, Alaska, and Carcross, Yukon Territory, Canada—following the very route taken by Klondike Gold Rush stampeders in 1898. Paired with a scenic mini-coach journey along the legendary Klondike Highway, this tour offers the perfect blend of Canadian and Alaskan wilderness and history.
Join us for a truly unique and captivating journey into the heart of the Bennett Lake region. Accessible only by the White Pass & Yukon Route Railroad or by hiking the world-famous Chilkoot Trail, Bennett, British Columbia, offers an exclusive and extraordinary experience. Long an important stop along the WP&YR, Bennett was once a bustling Gold Rush boomtown. During your 45-minute visit to Lake Bennett, explore the beautifully preserved 1910 Bennett Station, now a historic museum featuring fascinating exhibits on the Gold Rush and White Pass history. You’ll also enjoy time to wander the Chilkoot Trail National Historic Site on a self-guided walking tour.
A hearty boxed turkey sandwich lunch—complete with chips, a side, and dessert—is provided during the train journey between Bennett and Carcross. Vegetarian and gluten-free options are available upon request (will be asked during checkout).
At the foot of Lake Bennett lies Carcross, historically known as “Caribou Crossing.” The 1910 Carcross Station, located lakeside, is a designated Heritage Railway Station. Upon arrival, guests transfer to a comfortable tour vehicle for a visit to Emerald Lake, the most photographed lake in the Yukon Territory. As you travel back to Skagway, professional guides will entertain you with engaging stories, local lore, and captivating tales from the Gold Rush era. With multiple scenic stops along the way, you’ll have plenty of opportunities to capture unforgettable photos of cascading waterfalls, rushing rivers, towering mountains, glaciers, historic landmarks, and breathtaking panoramic views.
Complimentary drop off service is provided in downtown Skagway or at the cruise ship docks at the conclusion of your tour.
