Overview
Begin your private shore excursion from Aburatsu Cruise Port and travel comfortably in your own private vehicle.
Your first stop is the historic Obi Castle Town, once home to the powerful Ito clan. Stroll along streets lined with traditional buildings, explore the former castle grounds, and soak up the atmosphere of one of Kyushu’s best-preserved castle towns. You’ll also have the opportunity to try Shihan-mato, a traditional local style of Japanese archery.
Continue to Udo Shrine, one of the most distinctive sights along the Nichinan Coast. Dramatically built inside a seaside cave, the shrine offers spectacular views over the Pacific Ocean. Walk along the scenic approach, explore the unusual cliffside setting, and try the popular undama stone-throwing tradition, said to bring good luck.
On the return journey, stop at the historic Aburatsu Red Brick Building, a striking reminder of the town’s prosperous past as an important port. After your visit, return comfortably to Aburatsu Cruise Port.
