Your first stop is the Mayan Cacao Company, where you’ll discover the fascinating history of cacao and its importance to ancient Mayan civilization. Your knowledgeable guide will introduce you to the traditions surrounding this treasured ingredient and explain how cacao was used and valued by the Maya.
Enjoy delicious tastings of artisanal chocolates and watch a traditional Mayan chocolate-making demonstration using a pre-Hispanic metate, an ancient grinding stone traditionally used to process cacao. Before continuing, take some time to browse the selection of chocolates in the shop and sample a variety of rich and distinctive flavours.
Next, continue to El Barriecito at La Casa del Tequila, a unique venue dedicated to one of Mexico’s most famous spirits. Learn about tequila’s origins, production methods and cultural significance while discovering what makes this iconic Mexican drink so special. Take part in a guided tequila tasting led by an expert, introducing you to a selection of flavours and styles.
After the tasting, visit the on-site store, where you can browse a selection of Mexican products and souvenirs—ideal for taking a little taste of Mexico home with you.
To complete your Cozumel experience, enjoy free time in downtown Cozumel. Stroll through the lively streets, take memorable photographs along the waterfront and explore local shops offering handmade crafts, souvenirs and authentic island treasures.
