Overview

Begin your journey with a scenic drive through Basseterre, the vibrant capital of St. Kitts, where colonial architecture, historic churches, and cultural landmarks reveal the island’s fascinating heritage.

Your first stop is The Circus and Berkeley Memorial Clock, an iconic roundabout inspired by London’s Piccadilly Circus. Built during the reconstruction of Basseterre following the devastating fire of 1867, the landmark remains one of the city’s most photographed attractions.

Continue past Independence Square, once the site of a slave market and later renamed in 1983 to celebrate the independence of St. Kitts and Nevis. As you travel through the city, admire the Co-Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, a symbol of the island’s enduring Catholic heritage, and St. George’s Anglican Church, the largest church in Basseterre, constructed from locally sourced volcanic stone and reflecting the island’s British colonial influence.

Leaving the capital behind, visit Bloody Point, a site steeped in local history and legend. This area commemorates a significant early conflict between European settlers and the indigenous Kalinago people, with stories telling of a nearby river turning red after the battle, giving rise to the names Bloody Point and Bloody River.

The tour then takes you into the lush rainforest surrounding Wingfield Estate, one of the oldest surviving estates in the Caribbean. Located within an important watershed that supplies much of the island’s fresh water, the estate is home to remarkable Amerindian petroglyphs and offers a glimpse into St. Kitts’ ancient past amid spectacular tropical scenery.

Next, explore Romney Manor, a beautifully preserved estate dating back to the 17th century. Home to Caribelle Batik, the estate showcases the traditional art of batik fabric making, while its grounds feature the famous 400-year-old Saman Tree, one of the island’s most impressive natural landmarks.

A highlight of the tour is Brimstone Hill Fortress National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site often referred to as the “Gibraltar of the West Indies.” One of the best-preserved military fortifications in the Americas, the fortress was constructed between the late 17th and 18th centuries using locally quarried volcanic stone. Situated nearly 800 feet above sea level, it rewards visitors with sweeping views of St. Kitts, neighboring islands, and the sparkling Caribbean Sea.

Continue along the island’s northeastern coastline to Black Rocks, where dramatic volcanic formations created by ancient lava flows from Mount Liamuiga form one of St. Kitts’ most striking natural landscapes. The rugged black rocks contrast beautifully with the surrounding blue waters, making for unforgettable photo opportunities.

Your journey then leads to Timothy Hill, one of the most spectacular viewpoints in the Caribbean. From this elevated vantage point, admire the rare sight of the Atlantic Ocean on one side and the Caribbean Sea on the other, divided by the narrow Southeast Peninsula. On clear days, the neighboring island of Nevis creates a stunning backdrop.

As you descend, enjoy panoramic views of Frigate Bay, one of the island’s premier beach and resort areas. Known for its golden sands, luxury accommodations, watersports, restaurants, beach bars, and lively atmosphere, Frigate Bay perfectly captures the relaxed spirit of St. Kitts.

The tour concludes with a comfortable return to Port Zante, where cruise guests can enjoy time exploring the shops and attractions before departure, taking with them unforgettable memories of St. Kitts’ history, culture, natural beauty, and breathtaking scenery.
