Your guide shares the history of the capital city of Saint Lucia, Castries or La Carenage as she was called in the years gone by, an inviting little town rich in history and patiently waiting to share the stories of the many stormy years gone by.
You are welcomed with beaming smiles from the vendors all eager to sell you their wares. The aromas of the food market fill the air with lingering scents of all the spices grown and processed locally, colorfully set up on countless display trays.
Continue your stroll by passing the many historical buildings, including the Minor Basilica of the Immaculate Conception, Derek Walcott Square, and the beautiful Victorian building that houses the central library. Discover the Old Printery and Constitution Park and take in the rich history.
From here you board your bus and a short ride takes you uphill for a full view of the entire city, driving along the winding roads of Morne Fortune. Enjoy the captivating scenes as you visit the ancient ruins scattered on the mountaintop, culminating with a stop at a quaint little museum taking you on a trip back in time!
There is time for memorable photo moments and appreciate the island views before visiting the Morne Museum. From here it’s a return scenic drive to your cruise ship.
