Departing directly from the Salerno cruise ship terminal, this half-day excursion travels in comfort aboard an air-conditioned vehicle to one of the world’s most iconic archaeological sites: Pompeii.
Upon arrival near the archaeological park, you’ll enjoy a short service stop with access to restrooms. During this break, guests will also visit a traditional cameo workshop, where skilled local artisans demonstrate the centuries-old craft of hand-carving shells, an art form deeply rooted in the region’s heritage.
The guided visit inside the Pompeii Archaeological Park lasts approximately two hours. After meeting your tour guide at the port of Catania, you will board a comfortable vehicle and begin a scenic drive toward the charming hilltop village of Castelmola. Perched about 500 meters above sea level and included among Italy’s most beautiful villages, Castelmola captivates visitors with its authentic medieval atmosphere and breathtaking panoramic views.
Upon arrival, your guided visit will begin in Sant’Antonio Square, the vibrant heart of the village. From here, you can admire a spectacular panorama overlooking the Ionian coast, the elegant town of Taormina, and the Sicilian mainland. The square is distinguished by its ancient lava-stone walls, the historic Church of Sant’Antonino, and, at the top of a staircase, the evocative ruins of the old castle that silently tell stories of centuries past. Once you have disembarked your cruise ship, take one of the shuttle buses (around 15 minutes journey and to be paid on the day; around 5 Euros per guest, for a return ticket) that takes you from the pier to Livorno Center.
When you have arrived at the drop off point in Livorno, Via Cogorano, your representatives will be waiting for you and guide you to your shuttle transport for your day ashore! Don't forget your camera as a walk through the city, discover sights such as Giotto's Bell Tower, a splendid example of Florentine Gothic architecture from the 1300s which can be admired from the outside and the inside. You could even climb to the top and feast your eyes upon the incredible Florentine skyline and the rolling hills that surround the city. The Ponte Vecchio, or Old Bridge is not to be missed, there have been shops on Ponte Vecchio since the 13th century and has fabulous views along the Arno river.
Florence is also home to the Accademia Gallery which houses Michelangelo's David, easily the most famous sculpture in the world.
