Hilo's Hamakua Coast Seasonal Whale Watching

Overview

Every year, from December through to the end of March, approximately 12,000 North Pacific Humpback whales arrive in the Hawaiian Islands for a season of mating, birthing and nurturing their newborn calves.
This annual migration is one of the longest made by any mammal and is highly anticipated by both Islanders and visitors alike.

Whether this is your first or your hundredth time seeing these splendid creatures, their breaching, spy-hopping and tail-slapping are always a thrill to observe and remind us of the power and magnificence of nature.
While our focus today is whales, you're also likely to spot seabirds, flying fish, Spinner and Bottle-nosed dolphins, sea turtles and manta rays.
