Overview
Join your Alaskan Captain and crew in Ward Cove, one of Alaska’s deepest and most-well protected natural harbors, where you’ll board your tour vessel for a wildlife and sightseeing cruise with guaranteed sightings of American bald eagles. Along the way, the crew will share their knowledge of Southeast Alaska’s coastal history, Alaska Native culture, and natural beauty, including some stories of their own.
Sip a hot chocolate or freshly-brewed coffee, and relax in the heated main cabin or explore the open-air observation deck as you cruise along the coastline of Ketchikan’s home island of Revillagigedo.
Soak in the beauty of the Tongass National Forest, the world’s largest temperate rainforest, and learn about Alaska's interconnected ecosystems and the animals that call this region home. You’ll be treated to panoramic views of Totem Bight State Park, home to an Alaska Native clan house and a collection of 14 towering Tlingit and Haida hand-carved, cedar totem poles.
On your way to Guard Island Lighthouse, enjoy a complimentary snack plate of Alaskan nibbles, including a traditional alder-smoked salmon, salmon dip, crackers, bull kelp pickles, and artisan chocolate! Once there, take in the mountainous seascape backdropping Guard Island, while you photograph the first lighthouse to be built in Alaska, which was completed in 1904 and is still in operation today.
Additional points of interest include remnants of the Ketchikan Pulp Mill and the oldest working fish cannery in Alaska, unique coastal homes (some on their own island!), Refuge Cove and its outlying islands, and the old-growth forest on our neighboring Gravina Island. Keep on the lookout for bald eagles, harbor seals, sea lions, moon jellyfish, pigeon guillemots, blue heron and other seabirds, and sometimes even humpback or orca whales.
With an array of Ketchikan attractions, we suggest you keep your camera in easy reach! Our deckhands are also happy to take photos of you in front of the lighthouse or totem park, or you can pose with your Captain for a memorable photo in the wheelhouse.
