Randazzo is a beautiful medieval village on the northern slopes of Mt. Etna, surrounded by lava fields, vineyards, and forests. Known as the “City of the Three Cultures,” it is also the closest town to the summit area of Mt. Etna, which can be admired from a striking panoramic viewpoint in the main square.
Historically organized around three distinct cathedrals, Randazzo preserves a unique cultural heritage. As you stroll through the historic center, you will admire noble medieval palaces with Gothic windows and priceless artworks housed within the churches.
The old town features many ancient buildings constructed in black basalt, giving the village its characteristic atmosphere. Along its streets, you will encounter the majestic black Cathedral dedicated to the Virgin Mary, the Church of San Nicolò, and the picturesque medieval alley known as Via degli Archi.
Rich in traditions, typical products, and warm hospitality, Randazzo is a must-see destination for those seeking an authentic Sicilian experience, between history, nature, and genuine encounters with a welcoming local community.
After the cultural visit, we will continue to a historic local winery, one of the oldest on Mt. Etna’s northern slopes. Guided by an expert sommelier, you will taste native red varieties, Nerello Mascalese and Nerello Cappuccio, as well as white varieties such as Carricante and Catarratto, all characterized by the rich minerality of volcanic soil.
During an engaging guided tour of the estate, we will explore the fermentation rooms and the magnificent, artistically decorated wine cellar. This precious space, where the reserve wines age in large traditional wooden barrels, is one of the most captivating parts of the winery.
The final part of the tour takes place at the estate’s restaurant, where you will be welcomed with a glass of sparkling wine before enjoying a generous Sicilian lunch paired with four of the best Etna wines.
