Overview
Enjoy a 10-hour private shore excursion from Hiroshima Port, combining Hiroshima’s important peace and history sites with the cultural and scenic beauty of Miyajima. Travel comfortably with a dedicated driver and a separate licensed English-speaking guide, with your tour beginning and ending at the cruise port.
Your journey begins at Hiroshima Port before continuing to Peace Memorial Park and the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum. Take time to explore the museum and memorial grounds, reflect on the history of Hiroshima, and learn about the experiences of those affected by the atomic bombing.
Continue to the Atomic Bomb Dome, one of Hiroshima’s most recognizable landmarks and a preserved reminder of the events of 1945. Enjoy time to view the dome from outside and reflect beside the river before continuing to Miyajima.
Travel to Miyajimaguchi for the return ferry journey to Miyajima Island. Once on the island, visit the famous Itsukushima Shrine, renowned for its distinctive waterfront setting and iconic torii gate. Explore the shrine precinct and enjoy time to take in the traditional atmosphere, waterfront scenery, and island surroundings.
Continue to Daisho-in Temple, one of Miyajima’s most important Buddhist temples. Explore its atmospheric courtyards, statues, and traditional temple grounds while learning about the island’s religious heritage. Areas involving steps may be omitted if preferred.
Visit Senjokaku and the nearby Five-Story Pagoda, two of Miyajima’s distinctive landmarks. The pavilion and pagoda are viewed from outside, with time to appreciate their architecture and surrounding scenery. Admission to the interior of Senjokaku is not included in the listed ticket charge.
The Miyajima round-trip ferry fare and visitor tax are included in the itemized per-person ticket total. Shrine admission is also included as specified in the ticket charge. Senjokaku and the Five-Story Pagoda are viewed from outside, and any interior admission is not included.
The order of the Miyajima portion may be adjusted depending on the ferry schedule and operating conditions. The itinerary is planned to allow a comfortable visit while ensuring you return to Hiroshima Port in time for your ship’s departure.
