THIS IS A PRIVATE TOUR WITH ENGLISH SPEAKING DRIVER/GUIDE
You will be met at the cruise port by your Venture Ashore representative, they will then lead you to your private vehicle. We leave Copenhagen and head north and for almost a whole hour we follow the coast line of Sweden. We drive through the magnificent Danish countryside to Elsinore and Kronborg Castle.
It is quite easy to understand why William Shakespeare chose Elsinore Castle as the setting for his famous play Hamlet. Enjoy the beautiful surroundings and feel the atmosphere as you walk through the Chapel and the Knights Hall (the longest room in Northern Europe) and the dark casemates.
The tour continues to Fredensborg. The Queens summer residence of Fredensborg Palace is attractively located in the middle of a lovely park, bordering the idyllic Esrom lake. We recommend you dine at the idyllic lunch restaurant "Skipperhuset".
The next highlight on this tour is Frederiksborg Castle, built by King Christian IV. This pearl of history, built in the magnificent Renaissance style, is now a national historical museum. It contains paintings, tapestries, porcelain, silver and furniture of great historical value all nestled on a beautiful lake.
As we head back to Copenhagen, we drive through the colorful canals district and past the National Museum, by Christiansborg Palace, home to the Danish Parliament. We then continue on to the old Stock Exchange and across Kongens Nytorv, where we can see the Royal Theatre, world-famous for its Royal Ballet. Finally, we pass the winter residence of the Royal Family followed by a visit to the Gefion Fountain and the Little Mermaid inspired by C. Andersens fairy tale.
You will be returned to the port in plenty of time for your cruise ships departure.
