Overview

Your guide welcomes you at your cruise pier, and you will start this full day ashore! Tinos is just 45 minutes from Mykonos and 3 times bigger!

Your first stop will be to visit Church of Panagia Evangelistria, also known as "Our Lady of Tinos". With the magic and mystery surrounding the shrine it is one of the most famous in the world, it is a major pilgrimage venue for many.

Your next stop will be the women's monastery Kechrovouni, located high up in the mountains you will learn about its history and the work it does in Tinos today. There are around forty Nuns in the monastery to date.

On your way down from the monastery you will visit the village of Volax. This is a unique site full of huge granite boulder formations, a reminder of a volcanic eruption that took place thousands of years ago. Here you will be able to enjoy a demonstration from the local basket weavers. You will also visit the vilage of Pyrgos with its marble quarries and marble sculpturers. You will have time for Greek coffee or refreshments (at your cost) at the central square under the Plane tree.

Those natural monoliths have different shapes and give to the landscape a unique natural charm, the white houses of the village contrast with the profound red of the rocks. It is absolutely breathtaking to see! These memories will last a life time.

Some cruise ships use tender boats ashore, if your ship is tendering, guests must allow enough time to take the tender boat ashore, to arrive on time for your tour departure.
Hotel guests need to make your own way to the cruise pier for your tour departure. Please check to see which cruise pier will be used that day.
Bring cash and/or credit card for any additional purchases on the day.
Gratuities/Tips are not included in your tour, if you would like to leave a tip, please bring cash.

Local Currency is the Euro.
To visit the church/monastery, there are strict clothing rules: Sleeveless shirts and shorts are not permitted. Men must wear long trousers that go below the ankle. Women must wear skirts or trousers that go below the knee.
This tour is 10 hours duration, in order to ensure you will be onboard in plenty of time before departure, the duration will be subject to change, based on your ship's arrival/departure timings. All tour times are based on shore time (that is local time, not ship time).
Departure from Mykonos is between 12:30pm to 1pm. Return time is 10:30pm.
It is recommended to bring sun cream, sunglasses and a sun hat, as at times on this excursion it can get un-seasonably hot.
It is also recommended to drink plenty of water and bring your water bottle. Bring anything else you may need for a full day of touring.
Please wear cool clothing, and comfortable footwear for this excursion as there is some walking on uneven ground, inclines and steps.
