Overview
Discover the beauty, history, culture, and local character of Mazatlán on a city tour that takes you to some of the destination’s most famous landmarks, traditional markets, historic streets, and spectacular viewpoints.
Begin your experience at the city market, where locals shop for fresh produce, regional specialties, and everyday ingredients. Take time to explore the market and soak up the lively atmosphere before continuing to the majestic Immaculate Conception Cathedral. Construction began in 1875 and took 42 years to complete, making it one of Mazatlán’s most impressive historic landmarks.
As one of the Pacific’s major shrimp-fishing centers, Mazatlán is also renowned for its seafood. Visit the bustling shrimp market to see the wide variety of shrimp and local seafood available for sale and discover an important part of the city’s culinary heritage.
Next, experience one of Mazatlán’s most famous attractions as you watch the legendary high divers plunge from approximately 45 feet into water just five feet deep. Continue along the waterfront to see some of the city’s iconic monuments while your guide shares local stories and folklore.
Explore the historic center of Mazatlán on foot, discovering its oldest plaza, charming streets, and historic buildings. You’ll also have the opportunity to see the beautiful Angela Peralta Theater, built in the 1870s and now one of the city’s most celebrated architectural landmarks. Entrance to the theater is optional.
There will also be time to browse the main market and shop for souvenirs before continuing to Lookout Hill, one of Mazatlán’s highest observation points. Once used by the Spanish to watch over the harbor, the area later played a role in the defense of the port during a battle against the French more than 200 years ago.
The tour continues with a scenic drive along the famous Malecón, one of Mexico’s largest waterfront promenades, where you’ll enjoy beautiful coastal views on the way to the iconic Mazatlán sign, an ideal spot for photos overlooking the bay. Continue through the Golden Zone, home to many of the city’s major hotels, souvenir shops, and restaurants, before passing through the Marina Mazatlán area.
This comprehensive city experience offers a wonderful introduction to Mazatlán, combining its history, culture, local traditions, coastal scenery, and vibrant everyday life.
