"The Alaska-Juneau Mine proved to be the most successful of the three hard-rock gold mines that developed from this discovery. It operated for more than 50 years, located behind the now-existing city of Juneau. At its peak, the mill employed 1,000 men to process 12,000 tons of ore a day. It closed down in 1944, as wartime labor shortages made mining difficult, and never re-opened.

This tour will fill in the blanks about the history of Juneau's gold discovery. You'll be escorted by a knowledgable guide who knows all the facts about these tales of wealth and tragedy, and you'll see the site of the Alaska-Juneau Mine.
