Overview
Your guide will meet you at the cruise port, and you will begin with a scenic coastal drive to Dyea valley, the famous Gold Rush town that has now returned to nature and is part of the Klondike Gold Rush National Historical Park. Your guide will narrate the beautiful scenery en route, where you will enjoy searching for bald eagles and perhaps spot a harbor seal.
On arrival, your guide will retrace the footsteps of the Gold Rush stampeders with a 2-mile active hike on the lushly forested Chilkoot Trail. This moderately-strenuous hike goes uphill, downhill, and over uneven terrain for about one mile. The last half of the hike is on mostly level ground. There is time to rest, talk, and take photos along the way.
After your one-way hike, don a life jacket and rubber boots (and rain gear, if necessary) and board your raft for the float trip portion of your tour, which requires absolutely no skill! This is your time to relax, breathe in the Alaskan air, capture memorable photos, and enjoy the beautiful wilderness. Have a light snack riverside after the float, and then you will return to your cruise port with another scenic journey and your pioneer spirit!
