Overview
Embark on a breathtaking journey along the world-famous Hana Highway on your own private tour, exploring Maui’s most scenic and culturally rich stops without making the full-day trek to Hana.
Your adventure begins with the iconic curves of the Hana Highway as you hug the coastline, with sweeping ocean views on one side and dense rainforest on the other. One of our first stops brings you face to face with the mesmerizing Rainbow Eucalyptus trees, whose vibrant, multicolored bark looks almost painted by hand—a perfect photo opportunity.
As the road ascends, we pause at Kaumahina Wayside Park, perched hundreds of feet above the Pacific, offering panoramic cliffside views and a chance to stretch and breathe in the fresh sea air. From here, we descend into the sacred Honomanu Valley, where dense jungle conceals a secluded black sand beach that’s as serene as it is dramatic.
Climbing back out of the valley, the road leads us down to the culturally significant Keanae Peninsula, a native Hawaiian village steeped in tradition and known for its jagged lava coastline and famously delicious banana bread and fresh local coffee—a must-try during our visit.
Continuing along the highway, we take in the beauty of Waikani Falls (also called Three Bears Falls) and Wailua Valley Overlook, where you can gaze out over taro patches, forested hills, and hidden waterfalls tucked deep in the valley. This marks our turnaround point, ensuring a rich and fulfilling experience without the long hours of the full Hana loop.
On the return, we make time for Twin Falls, a lush waterfall and jungle trail where guests can choose to hike, swim, or simply enjoy the tranquil surroundings. Towering bamboo groves sway and creak in the breeze, adding to the dreamlike atmosphere of this hidden gem.
We close the tour at Ho‘okipa Beach Park, a beloved local surf spot whose name means “to entertain with hospitality.” From the scenic overlook, you’ll spot Hawaiian green sea turtles basking like boulders on the sand below—a peaceful and unforgettable way to end your private Hana Highway adventure.
