Overview
Your journey begins at the port, where you set out for Gyeongju—often called the “Museum Without Walls.” Once the capital of the Shilla Kingdom, this UNESCO World Heritage Site remains a living showcase of Korea’s history, with temples, tombs, and treasures reflecting more than a thousand years of artistry and devotion.
The first stop is Bulguksa Temple, serenely perched on the slopes of Mount Tohamsan. A masterpiece of Shilla architecture, its wooden halls, stone bridges, stairways, and centuries-old pagodas embody the kingdom’s Buddhist spirit. As you wander its tranquil grounds, you’ll feel the sacred atmosphere that has inspired pilgrims for generations.
Next, you’ll continue to the Gyeongju National Museum, a treasure trove of cultural heritage. Here, dazzling artifacts such as gold crowns, Buddhist relics, and stone instruments reveal the sophistication of Shilla craftsmanship. The highlight is the awe-inspiring Divine Bell of King Songdok, a colossal bronze bell admired as one of Asia’s most remarkable works of metallurgy.
Your exploration continues at Daereungwon Tumuli Park, home to around 20 Shilla royal tombs. Guided through this historic site, you’ll visit the famous Flying Horse Tomb, excavated in 1973 and dating back to the 5th century. Among its extraordinary finds were pottery, bronze vessels, saddles, and a sword, along with a painting of a celestial white horse that gave the tomb its name.
With a deeper appreciation of Gyeongju’s legacy, you’ll re-board and return to the port, carrying with you the memory of Korea’s timeless treasures.
