Overview

Your English-speaking guide will be waiting for you at the cruise port, where you will board your private transportation.

Alghero is a town on the island of Sardinia in Italy. The city is famous for its unique Catalan language, culture, and architecture and there are many beautiful sights to see.

This half-day excursion takes you on a tour of the city and your friendly, local guide will show you some of the amazing buildings and introduce you to the wonderful culture.

During your tour of the town, you will visit the 16th Century Alghero Cathedral which is built in the late Renaissance style - many changes have been made over recent years and a Neo-Classical Narthex was added to the front of the building changing it dramatically. The main square or Palazzo Carcassona makes for a fabulous meeting point where you will find boutique shops and typically Italian cafes. There are also several beautiful smaller churches which you will be able to visit.

After your tour of the main town, your guide will take you on a drive into the panoramic hills on the outskirts where you will make several stops in the quest for the most spectacular view. You will also visit the beautiful Capo Caccia area located on a limestone triangle that wedges out into the sea. Capa Caccia is well known for its labyrinth of mysterious caves which were discovered in 1700.

Your final stop will be the ancient town of Palmavera. The town is one of the largest and most important Nuaghic sites on the island and you will find the remains of a palace surrounded by a cluster of circular huts. The town dates back to around the 14th Century BC and is a magnificent sight to see.

The island of Sardinia is a must-see during your cruise and Alghero provides a unique and exciting central location from which to explore this glorious island.

At the end of your memorable tour, you will return to your cruise ship.
