Overview
Your excursion begins in port, where your English-speaking Venture Ashore representative will welcome you on board your tour. You'll drive through the Phassouri citrus plantations to ancient Kourion, to visit the ruins of the city-kingdom destroyed by an earthquake in the 4th Century AD.
Perched on a stunning cliff top setting, Kourion offers panoramic views of the surrounding countryside and bay. You'll see the ancient theatre, which is still used today for performances, the House of Eustolios with its beautiful mosaics in excellent condition, and the parts of the ancient bathhouse that still stand today. A short stroll takes you to the 3rd century Roman Agora, surrounded on both sides by porticos with marble columns, and the early Christian basilica.
You then travel to nearby Eskopi village to explore the Kourion Local Museum. Here, you can see the skeletal remains of city inhabitants who lost their lives in the 4th Century, which were discovered in situ in a Roman house.
The tour continues into Limassol's old town centre. You'll enjoy a guided walk though the centre towards Limassol Castle, where Richard the Lionheart married Berengaria of Navarre in 1191 and crowned her Queen of England. There will be plenty of time to explore the old town centre of Limassol, dotted with stylish shops, cafes and the bustling city market, before returning to port.

It is recommended to take sun cream and a sun hat, as at times on this excursion it can get un-seasonably hot. It is also recommended to drink plenty of water. Please wear comfortable footwear for this excursion as there is some walking on uneven ground, inclines and steps. Also please don't forget your fully charged camera, as we don't want you to miss out on some wonderful memories
