Our day begins with a drive through Runnymede, a lovely picturesque place with gentle hills interspersed with woods, ponds and meadows. We'll view the John F. Kennedy Memorial, very close to the location where King John signed the Magna Carta in 1215. This important historical document provided a guarantee of rights and privileges to all people and established the principle that everyone, including the king, was subject to the law.

Windsor Castle is the stuff of fairy tales, imposing yet beautiful. The oldest and largest occupied castle in the world, it is the present country home of Queen Elizabeth II. Since its founding by William the Conqueror in the 11th century, 39 monarchs have called Windsor Castle their home and St. Georges Chapel has been the site of many royal weddings over the past 150 years (including the wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle in May of 2018). From the opulent State Rooms used to receive foreign dignitaries to Queen Mary's Dolls' House, (the largest collection of dollhouses in the world), you will be delighted at every turn.

If you're in the right place at the right time (Tues., Thurs. or Sat. at 11am), you can view the Changing of the Guard, one of the most iconic spectacles of British pageantry. The guards march through Windsor town into the Castle, where the guard change takes place as it has done since 1660.

Hampton Court Palace is the very definition of "palatial". This immense property is one of the 2 remaining palaces of King Henry VIII. Some of its most well-known features are the decorative Tudor brick chimneys and Anne Boleyn's Gate where you will find the Astronomical Clock.

If you dare, wander through the Maze, the UKs oldest surviving hedge maze and the most famous maze in the world. While it might look daunting, most people manage to find their way out in about 20 minutes.

The gardens of Hampton Court are so magnificent, you could spend your entire visit wandering from one to the other. From the Great Fountain Garden, with its 13 fountains and splendid mass flower plantings to the Royal Kitchen Garden, which once grew food for the Royal Table, to the formal elegance of the Privy Garden, you will find yourself lost in the unique and beautiful aspects of each.

As we make our way back to London, well pass by Eton College, the boys boarding school where past Prime ministers and many members of the royal family have studied over the centuries.

Entrance fees are not included. Entrance to Windsor Castle is £26.00 for adults and £16.00 for children ages 5-16. Entrance to Hampton Court Palace is £22.00 per adult and £11.00 for children age 5-15. These are payable on site.
