You will be met at the port by a Venture Ashore representative who will then guide you to your air-conditioned transportation ready to commence your tour.
A Full Day is required to see the surrounding town of Florence and Pisa.
With plenty of photo opportunities, this tour covers the essentials of Florence.
Our driver then takes us through the beautiful Tuscan countryside (approximately 2 hours) to the fascinating city of Florence. Built on both sides of the Arno River, Florence has had a significant impact not only on the culture of Italy but that of Europe as well. Our guide will be telling us about some of the churches, palaces, and bridges we can see on the journey.
Heading into Florence's city centre we will see amongst other sights:
- Piazzale Michelangelo
- Santa Croce Church
- Piazza del Duomo and Giotto's Bell Tower
- Piazza della Signoria (Palazzo Vecchio)
- Piazza della Repubblica
After the Florence tour we will head back to our transportation and head towards the quaint town of Pisa with the magnificent Leaning Tower of Pisa and Baptistery. We can only have a short stop of around 30 minutes in Pisa due to the time constraints and getting back to the port, there will be plenty of time for photo opportunities.
Comfortable shoes are recommended for this tour as there will be a lot of walking involved. After a fascinating day discovering and exploring through these charming Tuscan towns we return to the cruise port in plenty of time to re-join our cruise ship.
