Overview
Sit back and relax on your scenic journey through the mountains as you pass by the little villages of Deia and Soller until we reach the scenic hot spot of Valldemossa. Known for its architecture by the Austrian Archduke Ludwig Salvator.
VALLDEMOSSA - We journey through the stunning Mallorcan countryside to Valldemossa – a beautiful town located 15 kilometers north of Palma and surrounded by the Tramuntana mountain range. This well-maintained town with its old streets, charming buildings, well-kept gardens, hanging baskets, and small street cafeterias and bars create a relaxing atmosphere. The most famous attraction is the Cartuja de Valldemossa. This monastery was the home of Frederic Chopin, the Polish composer, and his partner George Sand during the Winter of 1838-39. Entrance to the monastery is optional and is approx. 13 Euros (payable locally).
DEIA – dating back to the pre-historic era - is a small village with just over 850 inhabitants. Rock-built houses dot the hillsides and valley, building controls are exceptionally strict here to ensure the character and ambiance of the village are kept. Since 1946 when the artist Robert Graves made Deia his home the village has been a meeting place for artists. Deia is also very famous with Celebrities, your guide will point out the 'special celebrity' houses!!
SOLLER – Soller town with its’ central plaza (ideal for sampling a cool drink and traditional tapas), small gardens with lemon trees and flowers along the streets. One of the most impressive sights of Soller is the church designed by a student of the renowned architect Gaudi – centrally located; the church is open to the public except during the afternoon siesta period. In Soller there is a delightful Ice Cream Factory that produces up to 38 flavors of ice cream... why not treat yourself to the true Mallorcan Ice cream.
In Soller we can have some free time to have lunch (not included) or if you prefer we can move to Palma and have lunch there.
Head back to the city where you can immerse yourself in the hustle and bustle of the city. Visit the Santa Maria Cathedral before a stop at the Bellver Castle.
Located in the heart of Palma, the Santa Maria cathedral is a most impressive Gothic Roman catholic building which can be seen from all aspects of the city.
With your cameras at the ready you will be able to capture the famous Bellver Castle. Located 3km west of the city, this Gothic style castle was built in the 14th century for King James ll of Majorca. It is one of the few circular castles remaining in Europe. Enjoy the views of Palma bay and the surroundings.
