Your Venture Ashore representative welcomes you at the cruise pier - ready for a full day of touring!
After arriving at the cruise terminal you will transferred to Portovenere. This Town has ancient origins and takes its name (Portus Veneris) from a temple dedicated to Venus. You enter into the old town through a medieval gate that leads to the central narrow alleyway.
This alleyway offers endless possibilities to taste and buy local delicatessens (focaccia, fresh basil and fish) as well as local souvenirs.
In Portovenere you can see the magnificent Doria Castle, San Lorenza Church and the beautiful black and white Romanesque San Pietro Church.
In front of Portovenere you can admire (and reach by boat) the island of Palmaria and the smaller islands of Tino and Tinetto which are part of the Marine Protected Area. Then transfer to the lovely old town of Lerici which sits on the eastern end of the Gulf of Poets.
Very important is its magnificent castle which rises on a rock promontory overlooking the bay of Lerici and is considered one the most impressive and beautiful fortification in all of Liguria.
At the end of the tour transfer to port.
