Overview
Its just a short ride from Juneau to Auke Bay, where your wildlife adventure begins. The drive along the Gastineau Channel is beautiful and a wonderful place to look for bald eagles. We will pass by the stunning Mendenhall Glacier, along with a great view of Auke Lake. As you travel, your guide will provide information about the history of the area and life in Alaska.
With your friendly crew to greet you at the dock, step on board this fast, stable catamaran with a great platform for wildlife viewing and large cabin windows.
During this 3-hour wildlife tour, you'll explore the stunning islands and waterways around the Juneau area and discover the great diversity of wildlife that can be found in these pristine waters. While the main focus will be viewing the majestic and awe-inspiring Humpback whales, its quite possible you'll also see Killer whales, Steller sea lions, Harbor seals, Dall's porpoise, Harbor porpoise, Bald eagles, and more. Your knowledgeable guides will tell you all about the wildlife and ecology of the area, choosing the locations you will visit based on time of year, weather, and daily patterns.
Your Captain will point the boat toward one of the many uninhabited islands in the Channel Island State Marine Park, giving you the chance to step ashore and explore its beaches. Stretch your legs, hunt for shells, or just bask in the quiet.
Back onboard the boat, you'll enjoy refreshing snacks and sparkling water as you continue your whale watching tour. You are welcome to bring additional snacks if you wish.
Although the focus of this tour is wildlife viewing, if you would like to change the itinerary around a bit to suit your interests, just let your hosts know. Their goal is to provide you with an experience that you will remember long after you've returned home. You will return to your cruise pier at the end of your tour.
