Overview
Arriving to the port located near downtown Valparaíso, fifth region of Chile, about 115 km from the capital; the passenger will have the chance to know the city better, adding the city of Viña del Mar to the city tour as they are so close, just an avenue separates both cities. First having some sights from different view points of the hills and appreciate the colorful art and graffitis on its walls and streets, declared Patrimony of the Humanity by the UNESCO. Visiting the Pablo Neruda’s house, “La Sebastiana”, to know more about this poet and Nobel Prize winner, all this with the seacoast always having protagonism. Having lunch in one of the best restaurants in the region, considered as done. Then heading few meters North, Viña del Mar take the attention, known as the “Garden City” for its beautiful and well care gardens and common places. Here, the Fonck museum, an historical and archaeological museum, becomes in a mandatory stop for the “Moai” placed outside the building. “Moai”, big figure made of stone located in the Eastern Island. Another icon from Viña del Mar would be the Flowers Clock, situated few meters from the ocean, this clock works since 1962. At the end we return to the pier of Valparaíso.
Valparaíso’s bohemian vibes and colorful maze of hills have long inspired poets and writers. As you wander around the city, discover something new at every turn: a beautiful building, a remarkable art gallery, or some little gastronomic ‘find’. Marvel at the UNESCO World Heritage city’s beautiful architecture, narrow cobblestone streets, endless staircases, and old cable cars.
Viña del Mar boasts white sandy beaches, green vibrant gardens, modern buildings, ancient castles and mansions, museums, and activities for everyone. Enjoy the long promenade that offers innovative spaces for miscellaneous activities and top-level gastronomy. Head to the popular beach resorts to enjoy the sun, swim, and watch the multicolored sunsets.
