At one time, St. Kitts was home to approximately 68 sugar plantations, making sugar production the backbone of the island’s economy for centuries.

Your journey begins at Wingfield Estate, recognized as the first piece of land granted by a British king in St. Kitts. You will then continue to Romney Manor, where Samuel Jefferson built his plantation home. Today, Romney Manor is one of the island’s most visited attractions and is renowned for its breathtaking botanical gardens, a popular venue for both visitors and locals celebrating weddings and special occasions. The estate is also home to the famous batik factory, where skilled artisans create unique hand-dyed fabrics and clothing using the traditional waxing and dyeing technique.

The tour continues to the Fairview Great House, a beautifully restored property with a fascinating history. Once the residence of a French military commander, the estate later became home to several prominent families, including relatives of the celebrated British novelist Virginia Woolf. In the 1990s, a local couple transformed the property into Fairview Inn, one of the island’s first full-service hotels. By 2008, the estate was reimagined as a museum and botanical garden, preserving its architectural beauty and historical significance for future generations.

Your experience concludes with a scenic drive to Sir Timothy Hill, one of the most spectacular viewpoints on the island.
