Overview
What are the Northern Lights? That should be understood before you begin your exploration. The northern lights, one of several astronomical phenomena called polar lights (aurora polaris), are shafts or curtains of colored light visible on occasion in the night sky. Polar lights (aurora polaris) are a natural phenomenon found in both the northern and southern hemispheres that can be truly awe-inspiring. Northern lights are also called by their scientific name, aurora borealis, and southern lights are called aurora australis.
Now we can say that you are on the search for the Aurora Borealis and the most interesting part of this is that it is a search. There is no way to know in advance exactly where one will find it on any given day. Today, the goal is not only to find the right sights for the best photograph but also to take time to enjoy this fragile single moment that will never come again but you might remember for the rest of your life.
On our hunt, we will go into the dark, frozen winter night and search and observe an unbelievable display of color, light, and texture. It is like waking up in a fairy-tale full of mystery and magic. First, we will take you out of the city and drive into the countryside to get away from the electric glow as well as the city sounds. This natural phenomenon is visible in the Northern Hemisphere and is a unique display of light caused by a particle collision in the magnetic field of the polar cap. This very fragile moment may never come again but you will never forget it.
Of course, we will go to the locations that have had multiple successful sightings in the past but there is no guarantee.
