Overview
Your representative will meet you at your cruise port, where you will board your private transportation.
Settle in for your travel inland and discover the Guadalest Valley! Also known as the Eagles Nest and is situated some 14 miles inland, about an hours drive from Alicante. This magical destination offers some of the most breathtaking views of any village in Spain and is considered one of the 4 most beautiful Spanish villages in the country. With a population of 200, the village is set high up on a pinnacle and carved out of a mountain top.
One of the most famous landmarks is the Penon de La Alcala tower which rises high above the village and has a commanding view of the valley below. The castle village, which is reached through a tunnel, is a delight with craft and souvenir shops, several cafes, and small museums.
Your second destination is a study in contrast and delightfully so. The beautiful Canelobre Caves can be found in the small town of Busot around 19 miles from Alicante on the southeastern Mediterranean coastline. This ancient cave system is said to be the deepest and longest in the whole of Spain. The entrance to the cave can be found some 2300 feet high on the Cabeza de Oro (Big Golden Head) mountain. Famous for its 230-foot cathedral-shaped vault, Canelobre Caves were formed several million years ago and are a forever changing wonder of the natural world.
Upon entry, the caves open up for you into a spectacular underground cavern where minerals have been deposited to resemble Candelabra's. This is how the caves name was derived. As magnificent as the Canelobre Caves are, much of the naturally beautiful appearance of the caves is dramatically enhanced using an intricate lighting system. The lighting system along with the natural acoustics only adds to the Cathedral-like feel of the caves.
This is a perfect combination that will deliver a wonderful break from daily sightseeing and the drive back to Alicante is just 30 minutes. Enjoy!
