Overview
Your guide welcomes you, ready to begin your tour with a drive to Rabat, the capital city of Morocco.
Rabat was established by orthodox Muslim Arabs from Spain who decided to settle near the Chellah necropolis. Your first stop will be at Dar El Makhzen (Royal Palace) where you will see from the outside the official residence of the King of Morocco. The palace was built in the early 1860s and presently houses over 2000 people. You can see the Mohamed V University, established in 1957, on the other side of the palace.
Take a stroll past the Hassan Tower and visit the Mohamed V Mausoleum. The Mausoleum entrance leads into a burial chamber, whose walls are decorated with Zellige (Moroccan tiles), and has a cupola covered in beautiful gold leaf. Observe the Oudaya gate on the way to the Kasbah at Oudayas square.
Your tour wouldn’t be complete without an opportunity to haggle for souvenirs on the Rue des Consuls in the Medina plus a visit to Souika, the busiest shopping street, enjoy the atmosphere and perhaps even have a local lunch (at your own expense). Your guide will point out the best shops and stalls in the area!
In the afternoon your tour will continue to Casablanca, discover this bustling city with its boulevards and modern infrastructure. Walk around the Habous district with its small squares and narrow arcade streets, an example of contemporary city planning mixed with the traditional maze like streets. Continue towards the Mohammed V Square, and the lively Central Market.
See the Royal Palace, and enjoy the colorful Habous Quarter and the Mehkma (Tribunal) and enjoy a visit to the Cathedral Notre Dame de Lourdes and the famous Hassan II Mosque, two religious epicenters.
Finish your tour by taking a relaxing stroll through the leafy neighbourhood of Anfa before your return transfer to your shuttle bus.
