Overview
Your Venture Ashore representative meets you at the port and you will board your private transportation.
Starting in St. Peter Port and heading south west passing the German Underground Hospital, which is the largest construction in the Channel Islands, you will arrive for the first stop at the German Occupation Museum. You will stop here for around 1 hour 15 minutes. The museum provides an insight into life in Guernsey during the 1940s. The museum is complete with an authentic recreation of an occupation-era street, WW2 fortifications and exhibitions of maritime history.
Your next visit will be the Batterie Dollmann Gun pit. Here you can freely walk around the site and view the Battery Gun Pit that is the last of its type in Europe. This French, 10 tonne, 22cm gun was restored by Guernsey Armories in 1997 and sits in Gun Pit No. 3 of a German Coastal Artillery Battery, Batterie Dollmann. When the restoring of this German Coastal Artillery Battery started, the bunkers were revealed to be remarkably intact including armored doors & a bunker telephone. On various Sundays during the summer, the site is fully open to the public and the gun is fired using blank charges.
Your tour will then head back to port which includes a drive along the west coast, to see the many German bunkers and taking in the spectacular views that Guernsey's coast has to offer.
