Overview
Your gentle walking tour of Hvar begins with a stroll through the charming narrow streets. The city gained its glory and power during the middle ages as an important port within the Venetian naval empire, and the architectural legacy is felt across the compact city center.
Your tour takes you towards the 15th century Franciscan monastery, where you will visit the impressive Renaissance cloister, the old refectory that today houses a collection of lace, manuscripts and books and the church with its remarkable collection of paintings.
Your guide will then lead you to the main square to visit the Cathedral of St. Stephen. Hvar's cathedral, together with Bishop's Palace, dominates the east side of the biggest square in Dalmatia - Hvar's Pjaca. The cathedral is dedicated to St. Stephen, the Pope and martyr, patron of dioceses and city of Hvar. Admire its distinctive treasury and Bell Tower, marking the days of Venetian rule.
Comfortable shoes and your camera are a must, to fully enjoy this wonderful tour of which afterwards, you are free to explore the town on your own, and return to the ship at your own convenience.
