Overview

You will be met at the port of Mykonos by your Venture Ashore representative who will then guide you to your air conditioned transportation ready to start your tour.

The beautiful white houses, blue skies and narrow winding streets are all to be seen in wonderful Mykonos, a pearl in the Aegean Sea.

This half day sightseeing and walking tour of Mykonos town sets off southwards towards the beach of Agios Loannis, passing the most beautiful beach of Ornos with Yachts anchored offshore and the shore line dotted with Tavernas.

Enjoy a stop to take in the wonderful view of Delos Island where you will have the opportunity to capture the stunning views on camera. From here it is off to a traditional village and home of the Panagia Tourliana Monastery, located in Ano Mera in the center of the Island. The Monastery was built by monks in 1542 and is rather impressive with a whitewashed exterior, a colored dome and a beautiful marble fountain in the yard outside the church.

You will then head off to Kalafati beach for a 45 minute stop, where you will be able to swim or take refreshments at the seaside cafeteria (at your own cost).

You will then venture off to Mykonos town to start your walking tour. Starting at the old town where you can admire the interesting architecture and enjoy the atmosphere of the narrow streets and alleys along the way, heading to Little Venice, so-called because the houses and cafes are right by the water!

You will see the famous windmills, where grain was milled to make flour, the cathedral of Paraportiani along with numerous chapels and traditional houses.

From here you will head back to port or if you would prefer you can stay in the town to souvenir shop or experience a typical Greek salad in one of the local tavernas before making your own way back to port.

Comfortable walking shoes are recommended and your swim wear and towel if you wish to take a swim at Kalafati beach!

Special Instructions

Wear cool and comfortable clothes and suitable footwear - there is some walking on uneven ground, inclines and steps.
Bring your sunglasses, sunscreen, sunhat and water bottle. For optional swimming, wear your swimwear and bring your beach towel.
It is recommended to drink plenty of water - it can get unseasonably hot.
Bring your camera to capture wonderful memories of your time ashore!
If you will be taking personal belongings on your tour, remember to take these with you at the end of the tour.
There is some walking involved in this tour, although you do not need to get off the coach if you do not wish to, you will still be able to see the sights from the coach.
