Overview

You will be met at the port of Naples by your Venture Ashore representative.

Settle into your comfortable transportation as your tour begins with a drive above the beautiful town of Positano, where you can take in the picturesque surroundings and landscape of this admirable area as you drive into this ancient port town. Built vertically on the face of a cliff, Positano started out as a fishing village and became popular with writers and artists in the 1950s. Today Positano is a fashionable resort that has managed to retain its unique charm. Positano is a very picturesque village full of pretty pastel painted houses and beautiful floral displays. You will have around 15 minutes to take photos above this beautiful town..

You continue onto Sorrento, which is particularly famous for lemons and Limoncello, a very tasty lemon liqueur. Your will have around one-hour of free time to stroll through the beautiful resort town of Sorrento, before being taken to Mount Vesuvius for wine tasting and lunch.

Lunch will take place in a local wine farm in the National Park of Mount Vesuvius. Here you will be served starters including tomato bruschetta and local cheeses. Plus, spaghetti with fresh tomatoes and traditional wheat cake. During your lunch, there will be the opportunity to taste several different wines, including, white, rose, red and grappa. The winery is in the boundaries of the National Park of Mt Vesuvius. Clients will not actually climb up the volcano, the stop here will only be for lunch and wine tasting, the views will not disappoint!

After lunch, you will then drive to Pompeii. On a fateful summers day in 79 A.D., Mt. Vesuvius erupted, spewing volcanic ash over the prosperous city of Pompeii. Unaware of the imminent danger, most people continued on with their daily lives and as a result the entire town and around 20,000 of its inhabitants were buried under tons of ash and pumice. Almost 2,000 years later, you have the opportunity to explore the site of this famous disaster and see the houses, streets and public buildings miraculously preserved by the volcanic ash. You will be taken to fascinating places such as the Forum, Thermal Baths, Lupanare brothel and Vettis House with its beautiful frescoes.

At the end of your tour, you will return to Naples, with plenty of time for your cruise ships departure.
