You will be met at the port of Palermo and commence the short drive (around 30 minutes, depending on traffic) to Monreale.
On arrival into Monreale, you will enjoy a walking tour of this quaint town. Monreale has many beautiful buildings and a lot of history, learn all about this from your guide who will be sharing commentary throughout.
The Cathedral of Santa Maria La Nouva and the Benedictine cloister of Monreale are part of the Arab-Norman Palermo route and the Cathedrals of Cefalu and Monreale are UNESCO world heritage sites. William the Good, who was the King of Sicily, had this Cathedral built within 2 years.
After exploring Monreale, you will travel back to Palermo, firstly stopping at the focal point of the tour the Capuchins Catacombs. This fascinating visit will be approximately 1 hour, here you will learn all about the conservation of the countless corpses, one of the most impressive places to visit. A place of traditions of the Palermo society, stretching back to the seventeenth century. A truly unique heritage that has attracted many visitors from all over the world.
After the visit to the Catacombs you will arrive back in Palermo. If time permits there is an option to be dropped off in the center of the City, and make your own way back to the port, otherwise you will return back to the cruise port in plenty of time for your cruise ships departure.
