Overview

Your tour will begin with a drive to the beautiful Empadas Lake. The lake is large and you will have plenty of time to explore the surroundings and take some wonderful photos before continuing by road to the top rim of the Twin Lakes.

You will stop at the highest point – the belvedere of Vista de Rei where the blue and green Twin Lakes can be observed from the best vantage point on the island. The huge volcanic craters are truly breathtaking and your guide will tell you about the interesting history and importance of the lakes and their role in the beauty of the island. The location is known as Kings View in English as it is said the view is fit for a king.

You will then head back along the road to Pico de Barrosa. At a height of 947 meters above sea level it is one of the highest accessible points on the island and once you reach the top you will have the most amazing view of 220 volcanic cones located between the Fire and Twin Lakes. Capture memorable photos here, including seeing your cruise ship docked in the marina below!

Your next stop will be the Fire Lake Belvedere, to see the mysterious and mist-filled blue lake located in the heart of the Fogo Volcanic crater. You will continue down the north side of the mountain to Caldeira Velha where you will have free time to explore the hot spring waterfall and thermal pools surrounded by exotic plants.

Your journey then takes you to another tour highlight, with a stop at the Pico de Ferro or Iron Hill belvedere; which offers a picturesque view of the Furnas Volcano, crater and lake. You will have plenty of time to take in the view and capture memorable photos. Continue down the hill into Furnas Village, and on arrival you will visit the famous geysers and hot and cold mineral baths and explore the main town - a really wonderful experience!

At the end of all of the incredible sights and views, you will drive back to your cruise port, in time for your ships departure.
