For the lovers of ancient roman history and archaeology, this tour is a must as it combines one of the most important Roman cities in history with the volcano that destroyed it! The city of Pompeii is a partially buried Roman town-city near modern Naples in the Italian region of Campania, in the territory of the commune of Pompeii.
Pompeii was destroyed during a long catastrophic eruption of the volcano Mount Vesuvius spanning two days in 79 AD and was lost for nearly 1700 years before its accidental rediscovery in 1749. Since then its excavation has provided an extraordinarily detailed insight into life in a city at the height of the Roman Empire.
After lunch (not included within the tour), for which your guide will glad to suggest a suitable venue if you wish, it is time to venture up the volcano which caused Pompeii's destruction!
You will travel by vehicle to a height of 1000 meters and then ascend another 200 meters to the top of the crater before returning to Naples later in the afternoon. An amazing tour and not one to miss.
This is a private tour and you will be able to arrange your tour itinerary to suit you, so if you require to stay in Pompeii for longer than Mount Vesuvius you may do so.
In Pompeii there will be opportunities to buy souvenirs and refreshments should you require them, there are plenty of souvenir stalls and also cafeterias.
