Overview
Your representative greets you at the cruise port, where you will board your private transportation.Settle in for this comfortable half day tour.>
Bayona was the first European Port that received the message of the discovery of America. On 1sth of March 1493, the Pinta, one of the ships from Columbus voyage to discover the New World and returned to Europe & arrived in Bayona. A replica of the ship is still present in the Port of Bayona. The old historic City centre of Bayona with its narrow and curb stone streets gives a really antique flair to the city, with the Convent of the Dominicans, the Chapel of Misericordia, & the Lorenzo Correa House. Bayona was declared world heritage in 1993 by the Xeral Directory.
You cannot see Bayona without visiting the old fortress of almost 3 kilometres long and located on the half island of Monte do Boi. The Catholic Spanish Kings ordered the people of Bayone to live inside the walls and so they did for a couple of years. Nowadays, inside you will find the Parador Conde de Gondomar, a splendid view over the ocean surrounded by a beautiful wood and also the Monterreal with its nice view over the Bayona maritime surroundings.
The 30 kilometres that separate Vigo and Bayona pass by roads with an impressive view over the waves breaking on the rocks. From the Monte Santa Tecla, there is a good view over the river Mia embarking in the ocean.
After your sightseeing, your guide will return to the cruise port, with plenty of time for your ships departure. What's Included
