Overview

Your experienced local Captain welcomes you aboard and starts out with a safety briefing and talk about your preferences for the tour.

Your boat is a 30' Sea Sport Pilot, outfitted with a turbo diesel engine that can operate at 22 knots, providing less time for traveling and more time for viewing Sitka's magnificent wildlife. The vessel is inspected annually by the US Coast Guard, so you can confidently enjoy the scenery from the deck or the warm, heated and comfortable cabin which includes a setee, bench seating and a private restroom.

Settle in as you head out of town and into the clear waters of Sitka Sound, and wildlife begins to reveal itself. Have your camera ready, for some commonly sighted creatures include humpback whales feeding, perching eagles, sea otters lounging in the kelp, barking sea lions, harbor seals and maybe even a brown bear on the beach.

Wildlife is not guaranteed however your qualified Captain (born and raised in Sitka) has over 25 years of experience on the Outer Coast of Baranof island and as a Marine Diesel technician, he knows the best spots! His enthusiasm for the town is contagious and you will delight in hearing his stories about the history or Sitka including the Tlingit Alaska Native, the part the town played during World War II and Sitka's Russian influences.

Enjoy the incredible views of majestic mountains, ancient volcanoes, towering caves, and miles of ocean. Weather conditions play an integral role in our adventure and may determine where we you go on the day.

Your tour is run by a family-owned company, and they will ensure you have the best time ashore! At the end of your tour you will return to Sitka, with some new memories and wonderful photos of your day in the Sitka sound.

Considerations

  • excluded It has been announced by Sitka Sound Cruise Terminal that all guests arriving at this terminal on large cruise ship days (6000+ passengers) will be required to schedule a shuttle to get them from the terminal to the meeting point for this tour. The shuttle is free to purchase from Sitka Sound Cruise Terminal's in house shuttle booking system (via the link below). All days that require a ticket will be highlighted in red in the booking system. All guests should book a shuttle at least an hour before their scheduled tour departure time, to assure they can check in and be ready for their tour.   • excluded Guests arriving at the Sitka Sound Cruise Terminal is 7 miles from town, need to allow additional time for the bus transfer (45 minutes).
  • excluded Guests arriving by tender boat, need to allow additional time to take the tender ashore.

  • excluded Total weight of the guests cannot exceed 1,200lbs (pounds). We will ask your weight during the checkout process.
